Help for Ukraine

The United Church of Christ, along with Global H.O.P.E. and Global Ministries, will be collaborating with ACT Alliance and the Reformed Church of Hungary to collect funds to provide shelter, food, and other care to war refugees and internally displaced people. It also will help refugees and asylum seekers from African, Middle Eastern and other countries who had sought refugee in Ukraine and now are twice displaced, as well as other citizens of more than 125 countries living in Ukraine. You can read more about the UCC efforts here and here, and can make donations to the UCC Ukraine Relief Fund here.

In addition, World Central Kitchen, an organization that provides meals and other resources to people in the midst of disaster, is currently on the ground in Ukraine and the surrounding countries in order to feed both those fleeing the war, and those who must stay behind.  You can read more about WCK's mission and make donations here

Ways to Help the Community

CHIP IN Batavia is a local organization that supports students/families in BPS District 101 in temporary housing situations or who are on free/reduced lunch program.  To ensure that students who are facing financial obstacles have their needs met to be successful in school and to participate in the same programs/activities as all students. But they do so much more.  At the present time they are knee deep in their annual Prom Dress give-away.  The Prom Dress give-away is open to anyone, regardless of the community they live in or their economic background.  Kids can come and pick out a dress, shoes, makeup and accessories during the give away.  They can always use donations and help.  To find out more about CHIP IN, go to their website, and to make a monetary donation or learn about other ways you can help, click here.

In addition to CHIP IN Batavia, Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity is always looking for donations of both time/talent and money.  They are currently working on a home in Batavia, and the pandemic has hit them hard, both in terms of their ability to complete the project on time due to labor shortages, and the flow of donations to pay for the build.  Click here to learn more about FV Habitat.
